Our Story
3 years in the planning and launched at the end of 2020, Life Ledger is a secure, easy-to-use service helping families deal with death notifications.
Founded by long-time friends Ruth Blakemore and Tremayne Carew Pole, after Ruth’s painful first-hand experience of trying to close her mother’s accounts, their initial focus was government and driving change from the top.
When this delivered no results, they decided to create their own solution and Life Ledger was born.
In 2019 Ruth stepped into an advisory role and Nicky Hector, who had watched her mum struggle with the results of her grandmother’s death, stepped out of Ocado to help lead Life Ledger from idea to reality.
Two years later Life Ledger was launched…
Ledger initially provided its service free of charge. To date, it has helped over 44,000 families make more than 98,000 notifications.
Ledger is dedicated to helping families navigating difficult times, and the company is grateful for everyone who has trusted its services so far. They have observed an increasing number of people requiring their assistance to simplify contacting companies after a loss, indicating a growing need for this type of support. To further enhance their service, Ledger is transitioning to a model that includes a small fee, which will allow them to reinvest in their operations. This change is intended to provide an improved experience for users during challenging times.
Ledger appreciates the understanding of its users as they implement this necessary change to their service model. They value their users’ support.
