Dogs
We are a team of dog lovers and you’ll regularly find one or more of our four-legged friends in the office. Thomas, Martha and Bertie are among our visiting dog colleagues. They help ensure we get out for a walk at lunch time, are a soothing presence during busy periods, and never fail to make us smile even during the tough times
Our Story
Founded by long-time friends Ruth Blakemore and Tremayne Carew Pole, after Ruth’s painful first-hand experience of trying to close her mother’s accounts, their initial focus was government and driving change from the top.
When this delivered no results, they decided to create their own solution and Life Ledger was born.
We’ve since helped more than 45,000 people make more than 100,000 death notifications to more than 1,000 different companies and are committed to helping families at the most difficult of times.

Timeline
Having initially lobbied the UK government for improved legislation around how companies should process death information, Ruth and Tremayne founded Life Ledger.
Nicky Hector joined as Chief Operations Officer from a background in online grocery platforms, management consulting and private equity.
We designed, built and tested the first version of Life Ledger.
Life Ledger’s service was officially launched and we supported our first customers.
Funding for start-up businesses enabled us to grow the team and improve the customer experience.
Further investment from the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Investment Fund and several leading funeral directors helped us to continue to grow and expand our service.
As part of our campaigning work, we featured in a number of newspaper articles highlighting the need for improved bereavement services across all industries.
Matt Brooks joined as Chief Executive Officer and Life Ledger reached a total of 100,000 death notifications.
