What documentation do you require to register a death with BIRA Bank?

You will need to have the following information to hand when telling BIRA Bank of a death:

  • A certified copy of the Death Certificate
  • Account number
  • Personal details of the deceased (name and agreement number)

What Happens Next?

Once you have notified BIRA Bank of the death, they will carry out any necessary steps. Sole accounts will be frozen until funds can be released to beneficiaries and joint accounts will be transferred to the surviving partner. If they require more information, they will contact you.
