What information do I need to notify the Bank of England Pension Fund of a death?

Most pension schemes require the same information, so you should have the following available when you contact them:

  • Member’s pension scheme number and employee number
  • Their National Insurance number
  • Date of Death and personal details
  • The name and contact details of the person dealing with the death – don’t forget, if this isn’t you, that you will need to receive their permission to be able to pass on their details
  • If possible, any information you have regarding anyone who was financially dependent upon them at the time of their death, for example a spouse or civil partner, or children

What Happens Next?

Once notified, Bank of England Pension Fund will talk you through the next steps. If they require further information, they will contact you by telephone or email.
