What documentation will HSBC need me to provide?

HSBC requires you to supply the following:

  • The account number and sortcode of the deceased's account
  • An original or certified copy of the death certificate
  • If the representative doesn’t currently bank with HSBC, they will need to provide a form of identification and address
  • A completed closure form

What happens next?

Once you have notified HSBC of the death, the account should be closed. Then, any remaining funds should be transferred to the required account.
