What documentation will you need to report a death to Wessex Water?

You will need the following information to hand when notifying Wessex Water of a death:

  • details of the deceased including their address and the date of their death
  • the Wessex Water customer number (if available)
  • whether the property was owned or rented
  • an update-to-date water meter reading (if available)
  • the name, address, and telephone number of the person or executor who is legally looking after the affairs of the deceased
  • whether water is still required at the property

What Happens Next?

Once you have notified Wessex Water of the death, they will contact you to discuss how you would like to proceed. If the property is remaining occupied the account will be transferred to the surviving partner, and if the property is vacant, the account will be on hold until the property is sold or a probate has been granted. Should they require further information, they will contact you at a time convenient to you.
